Many businesses approach consultants with a direct request: 'Find us clients in Sweden.' On the surface, this request seems logical. An entrepreneur wants sales, and a consultant knows the market. However, in practice, this setup often leads to failure.
The problem lies in the fact that 'finding clients' is not a mechanical action, but the final stage of a long process. Before a client can buy, several key questions must be resolved:
• Is your offer competitive in terms of prices, lead times, and terms? • Do you understand who your client is (importers, distributors, retail, B2B)? • Are your sales materials adapted to the Swedish B2B standard? • Who will communicate with the client when they ask their first questions?
If you hire a sales agent without preparing these steps, they will face a wall of silence. They cannot sell a product that has no clear presentation, no pricing structure, and no local trust. Even if they find a warm lead, the deal will fall through at the first negotiation stage due to slow communication, lack of certifications, or unstructured pricing.
Instead of asking 'find us clients,' a company should start with:
1. Structuring the B2B offer. Make sure your presentation answers Swedish buyers' expectations within 30 seconds.
2. Selecting the segments. Identify 15-20 target companies that fit your profile rather than mass-mailing hundreds of random addresses.
3. Piloting the communication. Send adapted B2B materials to the selected list, collect feedback, and adjust the offer based on real replies.
Sales in Sweden are built on a structured system, not on random luck. Prepare your offer first, verify the target list, and only then start the sales campaign. Read about how we help prepare your business for outreach on our [Export Consulting](/en/services) page.
