One of the most expensive mistakes when entering a new market is starting to sell before you understand who exactly you are selling to.
A Ukrainian company may have a good product, normal production facilities, and strong motivation to expand to Sweden. But this is not enough. The Swedish market may ask questions you are not yet ready to answer:
• Who is your ideal customer in Sweden? • How do you differ from local or European suppliers? • Do you have certifications and stable capacities? • Are you ready for English or Swedish business communication? • Do you have logistics, lead times, and payment terms worked out? • Can you respond quickly and negotiate effectively?
A Market Fit Check is not a 'large, expensive consulting project.' It is the first reasonable step before spending money and time on sales campaigns.
The task of this verification is to understand three key things:
1. Does it make sense to enter Sweden now? Sometimes the product is promising, but the packaging is weak. Sometimes specific documents are missing. Sometimes the target segment is chosen incorrectly.
2. Who exactly might be interested in the proposal? Not 'all shops,' not 'all importers,' and not 'all construction companies,' but specific types of B2B customers.
3. What needs to be prepared before the first contact? Presentations, a one-page offer, photos, technical data sheets, prices, conditions, and answers to typical questions.
A good market check does not guarantee a contract. Instead, it gives the entrepreneur a map: where to go, what to bring, and what to avoid doing. Learn how to map your market on our [Export Consulting](/en/services) page.
